Apple Inc. hired Dan Dodge, the former head of BlackBerry driverless car software development. Being a part of Bob Mansfield’s team, he will help to review the concept of the Titan Project. This information was obtained from the sources, closed to the company. Apple has not still made a formal statement on that matter.
Previously, Apple has involved hundreds of engineers in the Titan Project to develop its own driverless car. Its output was expected in 2020. But the project implementation faced various technical problems and delays. Apparently, it made the company review its plans. Perhaps, Apple will cooperate with driverless car manufacturers or purchase one of such companies.
Dan Dodge is the founder and former CEO of QNX. In 2010, BlackBerry Corporation purchased OS, developed in this company. According to LinkedIn profile, Dodge left the company in December.
It is also known that Apple is going to establish the research center near QNX headquarter in Ottawa, the USA. It will allow the company to hire specialists in developing car software.
